A bubble humidifier bottle (or bubbler bottle) connects to an oxygen concentrator, tank, or wall outlet to add moisture to dry medical oxygen. This moisture helps prevent nosebleeds, throat irritation, cracked nasal passages, and dryness during oxygen therapy.
Key Features & Design
- Water Requirements: Must be filled only with sterile or distilled water (between the minimum and maximum lines) to prevent mineral buildup and bacterial contamination.
- Safety Relief Valve: Equipped with a built-in pressure relief valve (typically 3 PSI to 6 PSI) that whistles or pops off if the oxygen tubing becomes kinked or blocked, protecting the patient and concentrator from backpressure.
- Diffusion Ports: Features 360-degree diffuser ports at the base of the internal tube to maximize bubbling and quiet operation.
- Compatibility: Works with standard continuous-flow oxygen systems (not for pulse-dose devices, which cannot detect a breath through water).
- Replacement: Generally disposable and recommended to be replaced every few weeks to maintain hygiene.
